On October 6, 2022, Virginia Ability hosted its annual forum at The Cultural Arts Center

at Glen Allen, bringing together business and community leaders to advance disability

inclusion under the theme “Redefining Disability: Imagine the possAbilities in a

Changeable World.” Grounded in the Social Model of Disability, the event challenged

attendees to rethink barriers to participation and explore how organizations can create

more accessible and inclusive environments.

A keynote presentation from George Dennehy highlighted his powerful personal story of

resilience and determination. Born without arms, Dennehy shared how he taught

himself to play music and pursue his passion as a performer, using his feet and voice to

defy expectations and redefine what is possible. His message emphasized overcoming

barriers, embracing ability, and recognizing the value each individual brings.

The forum reinforced a call to action for continued progress toward accessibility,

inclusion, and opportunity across the Commonwealth.
